With the return of Darrow's entire population -- as far as Luke knows, anyway, he supposes it's possible some haven't yet come back -- he's found his store doing fairly regular business. That first week had been strange and he had wandered back and forth through the stacks, wondering what he was supposed to do now that the city's population was so much smaller. The store had seemed superfluous without a client base to sustain the cost, though he hadn't really had to worry much about that either. His landlord had disappeared as well.

But now they're back and business has picked up and Luke has to admit that the location across from the park really is ideal. It draws in a great deal more foot traffic than his original choices would have and he's fairly certain that the security of the basement is more than enough to hold him on the full moon. He still has nearly two weeks before he'll need to test it out, but he's confident and that feeling has made it much easier for him to relax. If he's not in danger of hurting anyone, Luke is fairly certain he can do just about anything.

He's just bagged several paperbacks for a young man when the bell over the door sounds and he glances up to see a young blonde woman wandering it. He smiles at her, then finishes with his current customer before he leaves the counter and register.

"Hi," he says. "Did you need help finding anything in particular?"
