It's been a few days since he's been home and he's spending most of his time with Reid, making sure he isn't exerting himself too much with his ribs still bruised, but Luke knows he needs to get out just for a little while. The store is still closed, which has been a good decision, but there's a part of him that's itching to be let out, to find a place in the dark of the woods and just run for a little while. He could transform here, he knows that, he knows Reid wouldn't hold that against him or ask him not to. If he wanted to curl up on the bed and have Reid just sit beside him, he knows his boyfriend would do that, but Luke needs to run.
So after he makes Reid promise not to exert himself too much, Luke kisses him goodbye, then goes down to his truck and simply drives.
There are people he should check in on, he knows it, but he needs just a little while longer. He's texted those he knows had been inside and though it's been a bit of a struggle with the new phone he doesn't quite understand yet, he'd managed to get messages to everyone and has heard back in return. People are alive, they're free, and while they're not okay yet, at least they have that chance. No one is being kept in a dark room and forced to do anything they don't want to. That's something to be thankful for.
As he drives, Luke glances at his phone, then manages to work out how to activate the voice texting feature all without touching the screen. It's different from his tried and true flip phone, but he has to admit this new technology has its benefits. All without looking over at the phone, he dictates a text message to Derek, asking him to come out and meet him.
Running on his own is fine, but running with another wolf is always better.
