Luke has been meaning to take Alec out for awhile and now seems to be exactly when they both need something like this.
In the days following his rescue from the facility, he's made sure to check in on the others he had known to be imprisoned with him. Most everyone seems to be keeping to themselves, which is understandable, but at least everyone is alive and doing what they can toward their recoveries. That's the most important thing and Luke knows it comes at a price, he knows these sorts of experiences don't just go away overnight, but at least this is a start. No one died inside those walls, none of them were abused to the point of being unable to heal, and he's very thankful for that alone.
Perhaps it's a little too lighthearted given everything that's happened recently, but as far as Luke is concerned, they need something like this. At the end of it all, they have to keep living their lives, there's no reprieve from that, and so spending some time together, doing something as simple as bowling might be exactly what they both need.
Truthfully, Luke thinks Reid probably needs a bit of a break, too. He's still healing, but he does so much for Luke and he thinks it would be good to give them both the afternoon off. Reid can rest and Luke can get out of the apartment and see Alec, which he finds he's been looking forward to for awhile now. Over the months, Alec has become someone he misses when they don't see each other for a little while, he's become as important to Luke as Simon has ever been, an integral and necessary part of his little family.
I'm downstairs. Tell Magnus I say hi and I'll send you home with leftovers.
He sends a quick text once he pulls the truck up outside Alec's apartment, then leans back in his seat and waits. For a moment, he lets his eyes flutter closed, but opens them a second later, unable to relax that completely out in the open like this. It's hard to forget what's happened, hard to let his guard down even a little.
