Luke's been in love with the same woman for twenty years, he's never really had a chance or the desire to explore his sexuality. He's had two relationships, both with female werewolves, but he's had feelings for male friends -- specifically Valentine and Alaric -- that have gone without any investigation, but not without being noticed. ▶ RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single. Luke's an incredibly neat man, he likes to keep things clean, and his bedroom is the only place he allows things to be untidy. There tends to be loose change all over the top of his dresser and he rarely makes his bed completely. ▶ OCCUPATION: Owner of Graymark Books. ▶ EDUCATION: Luke was educated through Shadowhunter Institutes. He never received formal education as would be recognized by most of the world. ▶SKILLS: Weapons -- in particular the crossbow and kindjal -- fighting, languages, demons, books.

▷ external ▶ SIGHT: Standing 6'1" with broad shoulders and a strong build, Luke looks far more imposing than he actually is for the most part. His hair is dark and curly, with a distinctive white streak in the front, his eyes are hazel, and he'll always have a full beard. Most of the time, he'll be wearing glasses, though if he's not wearing them, they're usually pushed up into his hair. Given his size, he moves with surprising grace and speed. » HAIR COLOUR: Dark brown with a white streak in the front. » EYE COLOUR: Hazel » HEIGHT: 6'1" » BUILD: Broad and quite strong. » DOMINANT HAND: Right » TATTOOS: None » PIERCINGS: None » DEFINING CHARACTERISTICS: Luke's arms and torso are covered with thin, silvery scars. Though they're not always easy to see, they're not impossible either, and it's certainly feasible anyone might notice them. In the right light, it's clear they have a specific design. His chest has one big scar, from his left shoulder, down across his left pectoral that ends just above his ribs. There's no mistaking this scar if it's seen, these are clearly claw marks. » STYLE: Jeans, flannel, henleys and work boots. Luke's style doesn't vary much from this and the idea of getting dressed up is something he finds rather difficult. In the cooler months, he wears a light brown jacket, but the cold doesn't bother him much. Now and then he wears a black leather jacket, but it reminds him so much of being a Shadowhunter that he tends to do this very rarely. ▶ SOUND: The closest accent to his would be Irish and Luke doesn't correct people when they assume as much. His voice is low and steady and he rarely raises it, though when he does, it becomes very commanding. Despite his reluctance to be a leader, Luke's voice is the kind that people listen to when he begins to give orders. ▶ SMELL: Old books and now and then pine needles and trees. When he's not at work, Luke does have a tendency to spend a good portion of his time out in the woods. ▶ TOUCH: While not adverse to physical affection, Luke will rarely initiate it unless he's extremely comfortable with someone. He won't be comfortable if someone reaches instantly for any of his scars, wanting a better look at them, and will pull away from anything that makes him uncomfortable. Generally, though, Luke has no issues with physical contact. ▷ internal ▶ POSITIVE TRAITS: Intelligent, compassionate, protective, caring, relaxed, open minded, level headed, difficult to anger. ▶ NEGATIVE TRAITS: Overbearing, sometimes overzealous, can be arrogant in some areas, often assumes he knows best, prone to silences and lack of expression that can make people think he's angry or being moody. ▶ LIKES: Spencer Reid, his store, his close friends and family, eating, books, weapons, languages, mountains, winter, cooler temperatures and seasons. ▶ DISLIKES: Bullies, prejudices of any kind, the Clave, people who purposely hurt others. ▶ GOALS: ▶ MENTAL HEALTH: While Luke suffers from insecurities he generally tries to keep under wraps, for a man who literally lost everyone in his life by the time he was 21 and was told by the two people he loved most in the world that he should just kill himself, he's pretty well off. ▶ PHYSICAL HEALTH: To the average medical professional who has no knowledge of the supernatural, Luke would seem like an exceptionally healthy man. His body heals itself with ease, so he has little need for medical intervention and will probably avoid the hospital and most doctors as best he can. ▶ INFORMATION FOR PSYCHICS AND OTHER MAGIC USERS: While Luke has no particular defenses against magic being used on him, he's also well versed in the world of magic and won't be as easily fooled as some. For mind readers, anything in his narrative is fair game. ▶ MAGICAL ABILITIES: Luke is both a former Shadowhunter and werewolf, both of which mean different things for what he can do. » As a Shadowhunter, Luke was born a Nephilim and has angelic blood in his veins, which gives him the ability to move quickly and silently. Though he can no longer use runes to enhance his abilities, he's also extensively trained with a variety of weapons, though he's most talented with his kindjal and crossbow. » As a werewolf, Luke has a good number of supernatural abilities. He possesses enhanced speed and strength as well as accelerated healing and these apply to him when he is in human form, as well as the wolf. His hearing and eyesight are dependent upon the phases of the moon; the closer to the full moon he is, the better his hearing and sight will be. Luke has almost complete control over his transformation and can turn at will, with the exception of the night of the full moon. On this night, he will always turn and will always need to be restrained. His bite and scratch can both potentially infect a human, with the probability of being turned at about 70%. ▷ relationships ▶ PARENTS: Little is known about Luke's father. He died when Luke was quite young and not long after, Luke's mother, Cleophas, left him and his older sister to become an Iron Sister. As the Iron Sisters never leave the Adamant Citadel in which they live, Luke hasn't seen her since. ▶ SIBLINGS: One older sister, Amatis Herondale. After their parents left them, Amatis cared for Luke though she was only a few years older, and the two grew very close. When Luke joined the Circle, Amatis and her husband Stephen did as well, but when Luke was turned into a werewolf, Amatis told him that it might be best to do as Valentine suggested. It might be best if he were to kill himself. Though there is reconciliation in canon, Luke arrived in Darrow before that point. With a werewolf for a brother, Valentine decided she was an unfit wife for his new second in command, and forced Stephen to divorce her. Between that and her role in the Circle, she's been something of an outcast in Alicante ever since. ▶ SIGNIFICANT OTHER: Formerly married to Spencer Reid. ▶ CHILDREN: No biological children, though Luke helped Jocelyn to raise Clary for ten years. In canon, no long before he arrived in Darrow, she informed Valentine, her biological father, that Luke was her real father. In Darrow, he's very protective of Alec Lightwood. ▶ CLOSE FRIENDS: In canon: Jocelyn Fray, Alaric, Magnus Bane, and at one time Valentine Morgenster. In Darrow, Derek Hale, Alec Lightwood, Terry Cassidy. ▶ NOTABLE PAST RELATIONSHIPS: None that he would consider all that notable. He's spent twenty years in love with Jocelyn, few other people really registering to him. ▶ GOD-MODDING: It's fair to assume Luke can be seen around Graymark Books during its hours of operation, but I'd ask anything else to be run by me first. ▶ OTHER ITEMS OF NOTE: Luke's real name is Lucian Graymark. He adopted a less distinctive name while hiding from Valentine in New York and while he will introduce himself as Luke before Lucian, if someone were to discover this name, he responds to it as easily as he does Luke. Now that Valentine knows where he and Jocelyn have been/now that he's in Darrow, he doesn't make any particular attempt to hide his former identity, especially given that his family name is on his bookstore. It wouldn't be difficult at all to get this information out of him.
