"I think it's probably a little bit cold," Luke answers with a grin as he goes around to meet Jack on the other side of the truck, using his key to lock the door. He's been teased once or twice when it comes to the age of his truck, but he loves the thing and he takes care of it, so he sees no reason to trade it in for something with automatic locks or a command start system that he thinks is probably terrible for the environment anyway. "But I'm really warm, remember, so if you start to get too cold, I can scoop you up and give you a big hug and warm you up."

There are times when he forgets other people aren't like him, that they don't run as warm as he does, that their metabolism isn't working overtime like his does, and it might be a little silly, but he likes those moments. It's almost as if he's forgotten there's anything other about him. That maybe being a wolf is something he can think of as normal.

"Where do you think we should go?" Luke asks as they start down the steps toward the sand, then points toward a stretch of beach shaded by a few trees. "We should find some shade, I think. I brought sunscreen and your hat, but it'll be nice to be out of the sun when we eat."
